A Twisted Twin Life
Hi, my name is Scout and I’m a twin. It could definitely be
exciting, but there are some twists. Some twins can be identical, some may not. Some may be girl-girl, or boy-boy, but some don’t even share the same gender! I am a girl-boy twin, and me and my twin look nothing alike.
About My Twin
My twin’s name is Sawyer, and like me, he was named after a book, but he was named after Tom Sawyer and I was named after To Kill a Mockingbird. In second through third grade, we were in the same class, until fourth grade where the school basically...misunderstood. We were also in the same private school classes, so it was a weird year to get used to. Sawyer’s personality is a very uncommon one. He means to be weird and disgusting, and he wants people to be grossed out by him. And then, sometimes, he can be calm and mature. I gotta say, it’s pretty brave to be be a person like that, but to siblings, it can get annoying…so here’s where we get into the not-so-fun parts.
Downfalls
When being a twin, it can be pretty annoying! For example, my brother is a one of a kind, and sometimes, he can just scream out of nowhere! For a person that has a problem with very sensitive ears (ahem...me!), that can get annoying. And a lesson I’ve learned from that is that a twin can’t teach the other one anything (or at least get them to stop doing something).
Also, if you’re in the same class, your twin can tell other people “weird stuff”. When twins are still babies, they bathe together, and usually they bathe in a sink. Would you be happy if your twin said, “I still remember seeing her in that sink…”. I wasn’t, and I learned that from experience (I still don’t think he actually remembered that).
If you and your twin share the same gender and look identical, there could be some problems. People can see one do something, and think the other twin did it because they look alike. For example, imagine you know a pair of twins, but you play with one particular twin the most. The twin you don’t know very well steals your lunch money. You meet up later with the twin your friends with and you think it was him/her who stole your money. This could cause arguments about things your friend never did. Now that would be bad.
Twins are really awesome, but experiencing
it isn’t always fun.
